Is your business showing up when customers ask ChatGPT for a recommendation?

Search didn't die — it moved. A growing share of buying decisions now start with a question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude, and the AI answers with a handful of specific businesses, not ten blue links. Ranking #4 on Google doesn't help if the AI never names you.

Share-of-Model: the new share of voice

We call how often an AI names your business its Share-of-Model. Most local businesses we check score 0%: never named once, while two or three competitors get recommended every time.

Why some businesses get named and others don't

AI assistants synthesize from structured signals: your Google Business Profile completeness, review volume and recency, third-party "best of" listicles, and answer-style content on your site. If those are thin or inconsistent, the model has nothing to anchor on — so it names whoever's signals are stronger.

The fix is winnable

It's called GEO/AEO (Generative / Answer Engine Optimization): the same idea as SEO, aimed at AI answers instead of search results. It's winnable, and most of your competitors aren't doing it yet.
